Hard cover book.
80 songs in a range of styles.
Within this series of books you will have access to a curated playlist of songs that the Artist listened to. And in certain ways, influenced his art by effecting his attitude. Gregory is not just an artist, he is also a musician and singer. He learned how to play an instrument and sing during his early adolescence. Which he is grateful for, especially the hand-eye coordination skills that help his drawing abilities.
With this series, the artist wanted to turn something that is untouchable—Music. And in a way, turn it tactile.
Gregory has a love of books, so feeling music the same way one feels paper was an almost therapeutic idea. He decided to use QR codes within this book to interact with the reader in a way. He also loves the idea of QR codes displayed like his artworks in his art books. He finds this series of books profound, humorous, witty, as well as necessary documentation…like a journal. Each QR code may look very similar, but the tiny differences make each one have its own personality—in terms of the information that it contains.
Gregory likes this form of documentation for a playlist to inspire for a season. As data on a device (iPhone, iPad, etc.) can be deleted or take up limited data storage space. Gregory coexist with technology. This series of books not only gives the reader another view of the artist while making artworks during a season. It shows how the artist’s mind works, documents, creates, and shares with the reader.
Gregory has a large taste in music, but also a particular pallet. He hopes that through this series of books he can accompany his artworks with a certain type of feeling with music in an alternative way. As an artist, a musician, and a singer. Gregory wants to create a certain type of environment with sound. And perhaps the playlist he shares with you gives you more than an expanded library, but ideas. New ideas if you’re stuck. Like receiving some water when you’ve been wondering the desert.
During this period of time, Gregory was mainly battling some severe mental issues. He is much better now. And everyday while he was struggling, he made at least 1 artwork with all the energy he had while dealing with severe lethargy, and got prescribed a controlled medication to help.
